Six-core Intel processor coming this year

The next step in processor design, according to Intel is scalable
cores, from two to up to eight.

The six-core Dunnington server CPU platform using Penryn architecture
, with 16 Mb of L3 cache, goes into production this summer. That will
be the last of Intel x86 processor with a front side bus (CPU linked
to memory on a separate circuit). After that, the Nehalem
architecture, in the fourth quarter of this year, will present
simultaneous multi threading: the ability for each core to process two
threads at the same time. Not alternately(hyper threading), but at the
same time.
